Weekend of Witness Held
Over the weekend of 27th - 29th 2011 April, Knights of St Columba from all over Britain held various prayer events as part of the National Weekend of Witness. In Glasgow the event was launched on the Friday evening at a Mass in St Alphonsus Church celebrated by Archbishop Conti. His Grace praised the Knights for the stand in the fight for Christian values and welcomed our support for the Scotland for Marriage Campaign. In a wonderful homily, Fr Ian Bathgate, Parish Priest of St Alphonsus warned that the biggest weapon against Christian values was our own apathy and that we must stand up and speak up for what we believe is right.
The weekend continued with a wonderful day of prayer and reflection on the Saturday. Sister Rosann Reddy, of the Sisters of Gospel Life, spoke of the need for witness and that we must not be afraid to air our views when they are right. She said it may be a long fight but with prayer we will ultimately win in the war against abortion and that family life, based on marriage was the basis of that fight.
On the Sunday Brothers attended morning Masses in their own Parishes.

Council 603 Move Into North East of Glasgow
Over a number of years the North East of Glasgow has not had a Knight of St Columba presence. That is all about to change as Council 603 changes its area of responsiblity to cover a number of new parishes.
When the Order was initially founded this area was covered by Council 1, the first in the organisation, but due to demographics and so many people leaving the inner city area, sadly, the Council became defunct in the early 1990s. Since that time there has been no active work carried out by the order in the North Eastern Corridor of the city.
From May, Council 603 will meet in St Aloysius Church Hall, Hillpark Street, Sprinburn on the first Wednesday of every month at 7.30pm. As its base, the Council will be active in the surrounding area and are looking for new members to join and build up the Order in the place of its birth.
Why not take this opportunity to Serve God by Serving Others.

Knights At Celtic Roots Mass
Brothers after the Mass
On Sunday 30th January Knights from all over Scotland attended the Annual Mass celebrating the Celtic Roots of the Church in Glasgow. The post reformation history of the Catholic Church in the city owes much to the influx of Highlanders and Islanders from the North of Scotland and the massive immigration from Ireland during the terrible famines of the late 19th century but in the early days of christian belief in Scotland it was the Celtic Saints of Mungo, Ninian and of course St Columba, our Patron who were to the fore.
That is why the Order in Glasgow was deeply honored to receive an invitation to be part of the beautiful and solemn Mass which takes place during the Celtic Connections Cultural Festival in Glasgow each year.
Once again the Knights of St Columba being to the fore in the spiritual and community life of our City.
